Nicole, a city planning staff member, told the commission the amendments fall into three categories: items required by the comprehensive‑plan update, lingering legislative items from recent years and housekeeping updates. She said, “So per the growth management act, you are to amend your development regulations consistent with your comp plan update,” and outlined a schedule: a potential second workshop April 8, draft comp plan on April 22, and a public hearing May 13 ahead of council consideration.
Staff said some amendments respond to state mandates and others are intended to improve clarity or implement policies the commission already endorsed. Commissioners asked for earlier circulation of revised materials; staff agreed to provide the updated amendments earlier than usual to allow more time for review before the public hearing. The commission expects the comp‑plan adoption process to continue into late spring with council adoption targeted in June.
