FAA requests rebid; Kremmling apron moves into 2026 and Granby runway work scheduled

Airport staff told commissioners the Federal Aviation Administration asked the county to reissue bids for the Kremmling apron rehabilitation after the initial bid came in nearly double the estimate and produced only one bidder. Staff said they expect the reimbursable apron project to roll into 2026 and noted the county’s local match amount for the project would remain in the same range when rebid.
“The FAA has told us that we need to go back out to bid,” the airport representative said. He explained that changing asphalt specifications (from a P209 base course to a P208) may lower costs for an apron-only project. The county also expects a Granby PAPI light upgrade (federal/state funding with a small county match) and runway rehabilitation design funding in 2026–27 under the state CIP; staff said they would consult CDOT about scheduling if commissioners prefer to shift projects between years.
