East Grand Fire District officials told the Grand County commissioners about their 2024 operations and capital updates, noting growing call volumes, investments in personnel and equipment, and wildfire-preparedness activities. Fire Marshal Ryan Mowery said the district covers about 209 square miles and described recent infrastructure and apparatus changes, including the opening of Lone Tree Fire and EMS Station and procurement of a new Type 1 engine.
“We cover about 209 square miles,” Mowery said, describing the district’s geography and mutual-aid agreements. He later noted that the demo Rosenbauer engine the district obtained was "just shy of 1,000,000," and explained that most of the purchase was funded with impact fees and a five-year lease for remaining costs. The district also reviewed ISO ratings (Class 3 for town areas, Class 4 for rural) and detailed training, volunteer-hour totals and a short-term-rental inspection program that generated hundreds of inspections in late 2024. Commissioners thanked the presenters and asked follow-up questions about response capacity and pension funding.
