Poulsbo to put surplus city property up for public auction; some low-value items already disposed

Finance staff told the council April 2 that Poulsbo is preparing a semiannual public-surplus listing for city property no longer needed. Items with residual value will be posted on public auction platforms (similar to eBay-style sites), sanitized where applicable (IT equipment), and sold in lots; bidders must pick up purchased items. Low-value or broken goods have already been disposed through an internal process approved by finance.
The process was implemented about a year ago after the city identified a backlog of broken or obsolete items that had been retained during the COVID period. Staff said the surplus list and auction links will be emailed to council and posted on the city website; staff will coordinate logistics for pickup and any special disposal requirements (e.g., tasers handled through police protocols).
Next steps: City staff will include the surplus-list approval on the consent agenda, publish auction listings and notify the public and council via email and the city website.
