The Board of County Commissioners convened as the Board of Equalization to consider referee recommendations and abatement petitions filed for tax years 2023 and 2024. Assessor staff reported they received 121 appeal petitions; many were resolved by stipulation or settled at the assessor level, and dozens proceeded to referee hearings. The board accepted the referees' recommendations on individual abatement matters and then approved a batch of resolutions implementing the referees’ findings.
Assessor staff thanked many county colleagues for their work on the long process, and the board recognized the administrative lift required to process more than 120 petitions. Commissioners voted to adopt individual referee outcomes where recommended, then adopted the compiled set of referee resolutions and formally closed the BOE hearings for the year. The county will produce written resolutions and notify petitioners of appeal rights to the next level as required by statute.
