Fishline reports serving more than 3,000 households in 2024, plans mobile food market

Charlie Thompson, executive director of Fishline, presented the nonprofit's 2024 annual report to the council and described continuing expansion in need and services.
"In 2022 we had about 1,500 households, then it went up to 2,240 households in '23 and over 3,000 households in 2024," Thompson said, underscoring a steep increase in demand. He told council the organization made more than 30,000 visits to its market last year, distributed over one million pounds of food and provided more than $3.2 million in client programs (rent assistance, mental-health visits and other services). Thompson said charitable income approached $1.3 million and thrift-store revenue is nearing $600,000.
Thompson highlighted operational changes including expanded market hours (now Monday–Saturday) and plans to deploy a mobile food market (expected delivery later in 2025) to reach additional areas of Kitsap County. He asked the council and community to continue local support through donations and volunteers — Fishline said unpaid volunteer hours approach 37,000 per year and noted that 94 cents of every dollar goes to programs on an unaudited basis for the most recent reporting period.
Council members thanked Fishline and encouraged residents and local organizations to donate food, funds or volunteer time as Fishline expands services.
