Ranch Pratt, one of the organizers, said the event is run as a for‑profit that reinvests proceeds into the rally and asked the Council for both cash and in‑kind support. "The request was for $10,000 to assist primarily with advertising and media promotion," Pratt said. Dana Zamalloa added the event already has commitments from national automotive partners and would bring media teams to promote Vernal.
Councilmembers questioned use of public funds for a for‑profit organizer and asked for financial statements before committing city money. City Manager Quinn Bennion told the Council the city maintains a budget line for event banners — discussed as potential in‑kind support — and estimated banners cost about $300 each. Councilmember Ted Munford said he supported the concept but wanted balance sheets and profit‑and‑loss data before providing public funding. Munford moved to table the request pending additional information; the motion passed unanimously.
