Council agrees to consider zoning change before leasing Bass House to Southside Rentals

Mayor Jennifer Williams told council the drafted lease with Southside Rentals for the Bass House had been sent to the city attorney, but that because the Bass House sits in a Civic zone the current ordinance does not permit the proposed business use there.
P&Z Chair Renee Sutherland confirmed the Planning & Zoning Commission is preparing suggested updates to Ordinance 31 to add acceptable Civic-zone uses; council reached consensus to add language to the Ordinance 31 draft to address the Bass House. Buddy and Renee Davis, present at the meeting, expressed a desire to begin renting the property as soon as possible.
No lease was executed; Council instructed P&Z to draft the ordinance changes and bring them back for council consideration.
