City public‑works staff presented proposed utility adjustments at the May 20 meeting and scheduled a public hearing for next week. The principal proposals are a 6% monthly water‑rate increase to take effect July 1, a one‑time increase in the water general facility charge of $800 (raising it to $6,600 per ERU) and a one‑time stormwater general facility charge increase of $200.
Public works said the increases reflect capital program needs and the city's planned sewer and treatment-plant investments coordinated with county work. "We're proposing a 6% monthly rate increase ... and for the general facility charge we're proposing a one-time $800 increase," the presenter told council. Council members asked staff to present the proposal again at the public hearing, to show changes since earlier briefings and to make outreach clear to utility customers.
