Council votes to fly Pride flag and display downtown Pride banners June 1–30

The Poulsbo City Council on May 20 approved a motion to fly a Pride flag at City Hall and display Pride banners on downtown city-owned fixtures between June 1 and June 30, 2025. The motion was made from the dais and carried in a roll-call vote with councilmembers recorded as voting "aye."
Supporters who spoke during the public-comment period urged the council to proceed. "DEI is just a really awkward way of saying liberty and justice for all," said Yves Pollet of Rainbow Crew Northwest, urging council approval. Pam Keeley of Poulsbo for All thanked the council and said volunteers and merchants had rallied behind the events downtown.
Councilmembers discussed logistics and security planning after last year’s incidents when banners were vandalized. Councilmember (mover) requested police coordination with community volunteers to help protect banners during celebratory events. The council recorded the motion and unanimous approval during the business agenda (motion and second recorded, then aye votes from the members present). The display period and flag raising will be coordinated with public-works staff and community groups to ensure safety and notification to stakeholders.
