Lometa to lease-purchase 2021 Chevy Tahoe for police after crash; council approves

Lometa Chief of Police Strain reported that a patrol unit was involved in an accident and presented a lease-purchase option to acquire a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe already outfitted for police use. Chief Strain said the vehicle, with about 70,000 miles, is available through a lease-purchase company named ESU Pursuits and "the total for the Tahoe would be around $41,000 (including interest), with the lease option being no payment made until one year after the signing of the lease." The council voted to sign the lease agreement after a motion by Gloria Martin and a second by Karen Chism.
Chief Strain noted the vehicle would require installation of a radio, Axon equipment and decals, and that it would be sold "as is" with no warranty. The lease terms discussed included annual payments estimated at $12,000–$13,000 for three years and a potential delivery within seven days of signing. The council did not record alternative procurement options at the meeting.
