Princeton Middle staff report ‘Ron Clark’ training and plan to introduce house system after winter break

Princeton Middle School staff briefed the board on a recent professional development trip to the Ron Clark Academy and laid out how they plan to adapt its house system and classroom practices.
"RCA, again, was life changing, game changing, and we know that we can do this at Princeton Middle School," said the school's presenter, Roberts, who described the house system, parent engagement and daily nonnegotiable practices they plan to adopt. Staff emphasized incremental adoption: "We will not start on day 1 with trying to implement everything," Roberts said, adding they will 'chunk' changes so teachers can embed new practices without adding another program.
Multiple teachers who attended described immediate classroom techniques they found useful—tracking student attention, intentional movement, call‑and‑response and integrating art and music into lessons. Joey Rife, an assistant principal, highlighted small consistent behaviors he described as '1 percenters' that boost classroom culture and engagement. Staff said Huntington Bank helped fund travel and that Princeton will seek grants to support broader staff training and house‑system rollout after Christmas break.
