The Harrison City Council voted to table a proposed amendment to Harrison City Code 7-2-14F that would make property owners responsible for sewer pump-out expenses. Mayor Wanda Irish told the council that "Shelley Roberts from Idaho Rural Water Association is going to do a Rate Study and it will be paid for by DEQ." The motion to table was made by Joe Cornell and seconded by Josephine Prophet; the motion passed unanimously.
Council members flagged the need for better cost and policy data before changing who bears pump-out costs. The mayor's note that the rate study will be externally funded framed the council's decision to pause the proposal; no alternative ordinance language was adopted and the item will return for future consideration only after the study and any findings are presented to the council.
