The Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution honoring Officer Mark Long for his work as the district’s school resource officer since May 2021 and for strengthening ties between the Lake Forest Police Department and the school community. The resolution, read at the meeting and later approved by roll call, thanks Officer Long for his presence at school events and his role in fostering student relationships.
John Burke, identified in the meeting as the Lake Forest chief of police, offered public remarks in support of Officer Long, saying, “I’ve known Mark for about a year and 0.5. Mark is truly, 2nd to none.” The board moved and seconded the resolution; a roll-call vote recorded “Aye” from all members present and the motion carried. The board noted the resolution will be entered into the record and that the formal adoption would appear in the meeting minutes.
