Buna ISD trustees approve consent agenda, name TASB delegate and adopt defeasance resolution
Summary
At its Sept. 9 meeting the Buna ISD Board approved the consent agenda, named Joey Broom as voting delegate (Kevin Gomez alternate) to the 2024 TASB Delegate Assembly, and adopted a resolution for defeasance and redemption of certain district obligations. All recorded votes were unanimous among present trustees.
Trustee Joey Broom moved that the board approve the consent agenda, which included approval of August board minutes and a check registry review. The motion was seconded by Trustee Ryan Beaver and passed with six affirmative votes and no negatives among the trustees present (A-6; N-0).
Trustee Karli Cherry then moved that the board name Trustee Joey Broom as the official voting delegate and Trustee Kevin Gomez as the alternate to the 2024 Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Delegate Assembly; the motion was seconded by John Burt and passed by the same unanimous recorded tally. Trustee John Burt later moved and Trustee Karli Cherry seconded a resolution "providing for the Defeasance and Redemption of Certain Currently Outstanding District Obligations," which the board adopted by unanimous vote. The meeting record shows the motions, seconders and vote tallies as part of the official minutes.
The board completed the business portion of the agenda before moving on to informational items and a short executive session later in the meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
