Board approves election order, calendar, weather compensation resolution and CTE purchase; tables several contracts
Summary
At its Feb. 9 meeting, the Burton ISD board set a May 2, 2026 election for three board positions, approved the 2026–27 calendar, passed a weather-related compensation resolution, approved up to $35,000 for CTE computer equipment, reviewed bus seatbelt alignment with SB 546, and tabled some administrative contracts.
The board approved the Order of School Board Election for positions currently held by Dean Fuchs, Misty Lucherk and Donna Putnam, setting the election date for May 2, 2026 and approving associated election procedures. Trustees also approved the proposed 2026–2027 school calendar and passed a resolution related to compensation of teachers and staff due to weather.
Trustees reviewed quotes and discussed the need for district buses to align with the seatbelt requirements of SB 546 and reviewed ongoing and future maintenance expenditures; no purchase order for buses was recorded in the minutes. The board approved the purchase of CTE computer equipment not to exceed $35,000, and tabled the Human Resources Coordinator, Operations Coordinator and Child Nutrition Director contracts for future consideration. The board voted to enter executive session at 7:27 p.m. and reconvened at 8:40 p.m.
