City Secretary Angela Harrington explained the contract is intended to speed response time and guarantee lower pricing when the city needs trees removed from easements and right-of-ways. The contract, executed June 10, 2025, includes an indemnification clause requiring the contractor to defend and save the city harmless and requires the contractor to provide certificates of insurance before work begins. The approved price schedule lists, for example, tree removal (0–6" diameter) at $120.00 and larger-diameter pricing up to $1,600 for trees over 42" in diameter.
Councilmember Paul McLaughlin moved to approve the contract and Councilmember Jeff Eckhardt seconded the motion; the minutes record 'FOR: Kalkhake, Tidwell; AGAINST: None' and indicate the motion passed. The contract includes a 30-day payment term for invoices and automatically renews for successive two-year terms unless canceled with notice.
