The Boyne City Public Schools board approved the purchase of a new gas bus equipped with a wheelchair lift to support students with mobility needs.
District staff explained the bus was procured through the state bid process and noted the lift is needed to serve two students across K–12. During the meeting the chair read the purchase amount aloud: "$138,946". The motion to approve the purchase was moved by Mary and seconded by Jill; the board voted in favor.
Staff said the district has coordinated with other local districts and the ISD to ensure transportation arrangements and that the new lift-equipped bus will allow the district to accommodate students in-district beginning next fall.
