The Boyne City Public Schools Board approved the FY25–26 general fund budget after a presentation by Chief Financial Officer Irene Byrne.
Byrne said the district "do[es] base our budget on 18 mills" and is "projecting $400 more per pupil" under current executive and senate plans, while also budgeting for a projected loss of 10 students next year. She told trustees the budget includes planned use of fund balance—about $493,005.61—consistent with prior board direction. Byrne cautioned the board that changes in Lansing, especially in the House, could require later amendments.
The motion to approve the FY25–26 general fund budget passed by voice vote with no opposed voices recorded. The board expects auditors to review year‑end figures in late July and present final audited results in the fall.
