Board approves amended FY24–25 general fund, CFO says district now projects balanced year

The Boyne City Public Schools Board on Monday adopted an amended FY24–25 general fund budget after a brief public hearing and presentation from Chief Financial Officer Irene Byrne.
Byrne said revenues increased because of a one-time transfer for capital projects and the recent sale of a district-owned house, and that "So now we are projecting a balanced budget for this year." She reported the district is at "9,608 per pupil, 441 students" and is maintaining 80 full‑time equivalent teachers and counselors with no planned reductions. Byrne told trustees the district will finish the year with an estimated fund balance figure that will be finalized after audit.
Board members raised no objections during discussion; the motion to adopt the adjusted FY24–25 year‑end amendment to the general fund passed by voice vote. The board president called for the audit in late July and said auditors will finalize numbers in the fall.
