The Buda City Council adopted the fiscal year 2025 budget and set the property tax rate during its meeting.
Finance Director Bianca Redmond presented the FY2025 budget, listing a total city budget of $85,789,469. The proposed property tax rate of 0.3395 per $100 valuation was split into maintenance and operations (M&O) at 0.0899 and interest and sinking (I&S) at 0.2496; council members reviewed the tax-rate public hearing and took the required actions on both components. Redmond also noted planned utility-rate changes: a 6% water increase and a 3% wastewater increase, which she estimated as approximately a $5.83 monthly impact for customers.
Council voted to adopt the budget on first and final reading and then approved the tax-rate motions with a recorded roll-call vote. The council also completed the separate statutory ratification of the property tax increase required by Texas law.
