Student programs and services staff described summer training and operational practices designed to support students and staff this school year. Lynette reported the district held MANT de-escalation and physical-restraint training in partnership with ESU 8, with 73 staff participating over summer sessions; the district is evaluating whether an in-district trainer would reduce long-term costs and increase training availability.
Services director Mr. Hughes explained the Group A/Group B staggered start approach — a holdover from COVID-era practice — that brings roughly half of students on day one and the other half on day two to ease transitions, reduce hallway congestion and allow staff to set building expectations. "When we had the COVID shutdown...we started out that first year...0.5 the students came on the first day, the other 0.5 on the second day," Hughes said, adding the district has continued the pattern because of positive feedback.
Board members asked for monthly updates on implementation results for policies such as the high-school electronic-device rollout; services staff agreed to provide progress reports to the board.
