The Caddo Mills City Council conducted a drawing Dec. 10 to assign council place numbers and stagger term lengths under the recently adopted Caddo Mills Charter Provision 3.01(2). City Attorney Susan Thomas explained the drawing was required to implement place-based elections and three-year terms.
City Secretary Becky Pattillo described the procedure and announced the results: Place 1 (3-year) — currently Shawn Bentley; Place 2 (3-year) — currently John Verity; Place 3 (3-year) — currently Justin Poppelreiter; Place 4 (2-year) — currently Lori Howell; Place 5 (2-year) — currently Cody Hawkins; Mayor — 2-year term — currently Chris Davies. The council recessed to executive session later and reconvened to note consultation with counsel regarding the item.
The drawing implements the transition detailed in the charter ahead of the May 2025 and May 2026 general elections. No public speakers addressed the item during the meeting.
