Caddo Mills council adopts Home Rule Charter after Nov. 5 vote

City Attorney Susan Thomas told council members that "all the hard work was behind them and the Charter would take effect upon their vote, with a few administrative things that needed to be done." The ordinance adopting the Home Rule Charter was moved by Mayor Pro Tem John Verity, seconded by Council Member Justin Poppelreiter, and passed unanimously.
City Secretary Becky Pattillo earlier reported the Nov. 5 special election results used to authorize the charter adoption: the minutes record 978 votes (61.63%) in favor and 609 votes (38.37%) against, with additional undervotes and provisional ballots noted. The Council’s ordinance implements the document approved by qualified voters and directs staff to complete required administrative follow-up.
