Resident urges help for downtown and proposes little pantry at Hanchey Park

Amy Goodman, who identified herself as part of the Caddo Mills Chamber of Commerce, told the City Council she supported downtown businesses but said abandoned buildings remain a problem and asked whether the council could attend ribbon cuttings for new businesses.
She also raised a neighborhood food-access idea: "Ms. Pope thought it was a great idea if the Council would allow it," referring to Vanessa Pope, who helps maintain small pantries at the Methodist Church and at the middle school and told the Council there may be a need for a third pantry at Hanchey Park. City Manager Matt McMahan asked Ms. Goodman to have Ms. Pope contact him to follow up on logistics and permissions.
The exchange occurred during the public comment portion of the Nov. 12 meeting and the Council did not take formal action at the meeting on the pantry request.
