The Winthrop School Board voted unanimously to approve a Winthrop High School Outings Club overnight field trip to Adventure Bound/Whitewater in Caratunk, Maine, May 15–17, 2026.
Kristen Kaiser, art teacher and outdoor advisor for Winthrop High School, described the itinerary (two nights camping, hiking, canoeing and a Class 4 whitewater run on the Kennamic River) and supervision plans, saying she would accompany students and expected to take up to nine students on the trip. The motion to approve was moved by a board member identified in the record as S9 and seconded by S10; the chair called for a voice vote and declared the motion unanimous. (S12)
Board members said the trip sounded like a strong student opportunity and wished students well; no additional approvals or fees were recorded in the meeting minutes.
