Caddo Mills tables draft food-truck ordinance amid concerns for existing businesses

The Caddo Mills City Council on Feb. 11 tabled a draft ordinance that would add a new mobile food unit and food truck park provision to Chapter 6 (Health and Sanitation).
Assistant to the City Manager Joel Richardson said staff had taken a sample ordinance from another city as a starting point and were preparing zoning amendments so that allowable zones for trucks are identified. "We were trying to be fair to the current businesses that were in Caddo Mills," Richardson said. Mayor Pro Tem John Verity noted that, based on the sample ordinance, food trucks such as the Dog House and Wells would not meet the proposed rules.
Because the zoning component was not yet included and staff planned to provide a summary of the code amendments, the council voted to table the ordinance and asked staff to return with a refined draft that addresses zoning and the concerns for existing operators.
