Board sets July 1 deadline for documents tied to Clark Road reclassification

The select board updated the public about a Clark Road site hearing held at 6 p.m. and discussed a proposed reclassification linked to a business and property access arrangements. Chair (S1) said the town expects legal documents to be signed so the road will remain in its current status; otherwise the board will reclassify the road as a Class 4 town highway at the July 14 meeting.

A board member said the paperwork — including an agreement from a neighboring property owner to allow the town to place snow on their land during winter — must be delivered to the town manager by July 1 or the board will proceed with the reclassification. The chair framed the long-running issue bluntly: “This 6 been dragging on since 2021. Enough is enough.” The board clarified that if the documents are completed and filed by the deadline, the reclassification will not occur and the road will remain under current town maintenance arrangements.

Board members also discussed public-safety implications for service providers at multi-residence facilities on the road; one board member noted there are 16 residents at the 2nd Springs facility, emphasizing the need for reliable emergency access. The board asked town staff to verify signed agreements and return with any unresolved documents before the July meeting.
