Canyon ISD board approves Year 1 goals for strategic plan

Canyon Independent School District’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 15 to approve the Year 1 goals of the district’s strategic plan following a presentation by Region 16 and district administrators.
Dr. Tanya Larkin of Region 16 described the community-engaged planning process that ran from April to July, and student Miguel Quinones and parent Nichole Carroway shared their experiences participating in that process. Superintendent Dr. Darryl Flusche and other administrators presented the proposed Year 1 goals. "The board approved the Year 1 Goals of the Strategic Plan as presented," a board motion record shows.
Board President Jenni Winegarner and other trustees thanked community members, parents, students and staff for their involvement. The vote to adopt the goals was moved by Mr. Matt Parker and carried unanimously.
The approval authorizes district staff to move forward implementing the initial objectives outlined by the administration and Region 16. The board recessed after the presentation to greet attendees and later resumed its regular meeting business.
