Caddo Mills approved the purchase of a .304-acre parcel behind the downtown bank and the fire station (Property ID 110486) during its Oct. 8 meeting. Assistant to the City Manager Joel Richardson said the parcel was appraised at $42,000 and the City would pay half the appraised value while the Thomas family would donate the other half to support additional downtown parking.
Mayor Pro Tem John Verity moved to approve the purchase and Council Member Justin Poppelreiter seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The council recorded no additional conditions in the minutes; the council and staff said the site would be used to provide additional parking for the downtown area.
