Caddo Mills council approves Home Rule Charter and orders Nov. 5 special election

The Caddo Mills City Council voted Aug. 13 to approve an amended Home Rule Charter and to place the measure before voters in a Nov. 5, 2024 special election.
City Attorney Susan Thomas told council members the Charter Commission had submitted a proposed charter and that the city's financial advisor suggested several edits. Council amended term limits and added provisions allowing alcohol sales in residential areas before voting. Mayor Pro Tem John Verity moved to approve the charter with those amendments; the motion carried unanimously.
Council also approved a separate resolution ordering the special election on Nov. 5, 2024 and a resolution approving a contract between the City and the Hunt County Election Administrator's Office to provide election services for that election.
