Canyon adopts ordinance vacating portion of N. 6th Avenue in Lair Addition

Planning and Development Director Dustin Meyer introduced Ordinance No. 1248, explaining that applicant Jed Welch initially sought abandonment of N. 6th Avenue between Blocks 12 and 13 in the Lair Addition but revised the request to the south half of the street after staff identified natural gas infrastructure that made the north portion infeasible.
Meyer said the revised abandonment concerns a lot about 75 feet by 140 feet; the application included an appraisal by Jeremy Baskett that determined a market value of $1.50 per square foot. Following discussion the commission adopted Ordinance No. 1248 as presented; the motion carried unanimously.
