At its Nov. 10, 2025 meeting, the Lorenzo City Council voted to apply for a Wheeler Grant to fund an emergency siren. Council Member Cheryl Birdwell moved to approve applying for the $15,000 grant; Council Member Rhonda Cypert seconded. The motion passed by a vote of four in favor, one absent.
The minutes record the proposed location for the siren as 1st Street/North Jackson Ave. City staff (Public Works/City Manager) are assigned follow-up tasks to submit the application and, if awarded, to proceed with procurement and installation. The grant application amount was recorded in the minutes as $15,000; the council approved only submitting the application, not the receipt of funds.
