During public comment at the Sept. 8 meeting, resident Dana Cunningham described a corner property where a mechanic shop is operating in a residential area and said parked cars, trailers and junk obstruct drivers' vision and could prevent emergency vehicles from passing. "If I wanted to live in a junk yard, I would have gone to build a junk yard but I am not wanting to do that," Cunningham said, describing near-misses at the intersection of Harrison and First Street.
The council did not immediately act on the complaint. Ordinance 250908, which concerns running a business in a residential area, was tabled and scheduled for a public hearing on Sept. 22; the minutes note the City Attorney is to be present for that hearing. The item was not approved or denied on Sept. 8; the tabling provides an opportunity for legal guidance and public input before any ordinance is adopted.
