Superintendent Shawn Parkhurst told the board the Board of Finance had approved the BOE FY27 budget at 6 percent and presented a reduction list developed with the leadership team to bring the district number into line with that approval. After discussion, the board "agreed to not move forward with an appeal" to the Board of Finance and approved the reductions as presented. Parkhurst also provided an overview of grants and explained how those grant funds align with and offset items in the operating budget; the board agreed those grant details would be posted on the Windsor Locks School District website for public viewing and transparency.
The vote tally recorded in the minutes was four in favor, none opposed, with Dennis Gragnolati absent. The board did not place any appeal to the Board of Finance and directed staff to post grant documentation online. The decision is effective immediately for the FY27 planning cycle.
