Staff and inspectors told the board they needed clearer documentation of the licensed space and a coordinated security plan because the venue includes continuous membership access outside typical bar hours. Licensing inspector Christopher Smith flagged the unique logistics of an entertainment‑style operation and recommended that the board consider an entertainment‑center endorsement to address dancing and special events.
Board members repeatedly emphasized that a licensed premise that coexists with a 24/7 membership facility must have hard controls—access cards, a defined licensable footprint, on‑site managers and written agreements—so licensee actions do not allow alcohol to be consumed outside permitted hours. “I don’t feel comfortable giving a license at this point,” the Chair said, explaining the board’s need for written, signed agreements and documented security procedures before approval.
Applicants and affiliated operators told the board they will produce a written security agreement with the pickleball owners, provide an access‑card plan for inspectors, confirm ABLE/manager training, and tighten procedures for after‑hours closures; the board postponed the application to Sept. 14, 2026 to permit submission of the requested materials.
