At its Aug. 10 meeting, the Wayzata Public Schools Board recognized Adam Fleischeker, a special-education teacher at Northwoods Elementary, with the district's inclusive-educator award.
Ginny Nias, director of student support services, introduced Fleischeker and read nominations describing how he helps students participate in activities—physically supporting a student on a scooter board or bouncy-house so the child joins peers rather than watching from the sidelines. One nominator wrote that Fleischeker "consistently demonstrates deep compassion and humility," and lauded his communication with families.
Fleischeker, who was invited to the podium, thanked the board and noted his commitment to ensuring every student feels part of the classroom community. Superintendent Rob Virgen praised the student-support services team and highlighted inclusive instruction as a district strength.
