Chair Susan Culp proposed a strict Dec. 1 deadline for all departments and committees to submit 2027 budget requests and asked that large agencies seeking funding include a report of numbers served in Newbury. Budget Advisory Committee member Frank Tegethoff suggested providing a template to help agencies meet the requirement, and Selectboard member Shauna Prime recommended that all Town committees be expected to submit meeting minutes.
The Board agreed on the budget hearing dates: Saturday, Jan. 2; Tuesday, Jan. 5; and Tuesday, Jan. 12. The Budget Advisory Committee and Selectboard will also meet on Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. to prepare for the hearings. The measures aim to tighten submission timelines and improve transparency for agencies requesting funds.
