At the May 13 meeting the council considered and approved a petition to consent to annexation of roughly 16.6 acres at 902 Post Road into the Charleston Municipal Utility District (MUD). City Engineer Lawrence Turner said the tract is in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction and that any subsequent platting or development plans will come back to the council for review.
Turner said he had discussed the proposed land use with the applicant’s representative (identified as Carl Allred in the room) but stressed that consenting to the petition does not substitute for later approvals; it allows the developer to proceed with MUD-related processes. The council voted in favor of accepting the petition and authorized staff to draft an annexation ordinance.
