At the Aug. 11 confirmation hearing for Christopher K. Felix, University of Guam President Anita Enriquez gave a detailed account of recent program and enrollment developments as part of her testimony supporting the nominee.
Enriquez said the nursing program will have capacity for 60 majors and noted a new nursing hub opening the next day. She told senators the university admitted 45 new nursing majors this cycle and still had 15 slots open, described nearly 300 online courses and highlighted new online graduate programs including a master’s in data science, an online master of accountancy and a fully online doctor of education. She also cited regional articulation agreements — including invitations to offer degrees in Palau and partnerships across Micronesia — and said the university is exploring an articulation pathway with the Colorado School of Mines for mechanical engineering. "We are innovating," she said, and emphasized workforce alignment and expanded online offerings as central to sustaining and growing enrollment.
