Forest & Parks department seeks guidance on swimming rule, Pioneer Park plan; approves road access permit

Forest, Parks & Recreation Administrator Chris Firgens reviewed several department items July 7. The committee asked Firgens to research enforcement options for Ordinance 10.800(t) ("Swimming in Launch Areas") and clarify whether the 100-foot measurement applies from the launch structure or another reference point.
Firgens also requested feedback on revising the Pioneer Park Grant Project to replace separate bathroom and pavilion buildings with a single structure that includes an exterior-access restroom; the committee requested a rough draft and site diagram for the August meeting. The committee approved a road access permit for Dean and Kathleen Listle in the Town of Abrams (motion by Scanlan/Cole). Firgens reported a timber-sale map revision (Tract 9-26) after a stakeholder meeting that increased buffers near trails and green-tree retention; the department will present a final map for approval in August.
