Council finds city lacks capacity to supply Arcola Community Estates with water
Summary
After an executive session, council voted that the city does not have the water capacity to supply Arcola Community Estates with temporary or permanent service at this time. The motion was moved by Council member Abar and seconded by Council member Jones and approved by voice vote.
Following a closed consultation with the city attorney, the Arcola City Council on April 8 adopted a motion finding that the city lacks sufficient water capacity to provide either temporary or permanent water service to the proposed Arcola Community Estates development. The motion stated on the record read: “the city does not have the water capacity to supply Arcola Community Estates with temporary or permanent water service at this time.”
Council member Abar made the motion and council member Jones seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. The action followed staff review of available capacity and options discussed during executive session; council did not instruct staff to approve service for the development at this time. City staff and the engineer have been directed to continue coordination with Freshwater Supply District No. 1 on capacity planning and future expansions.
