Commissioners amend FY27 general fund to add yard-debris line, change fee schedule

During the public hearing the chair read several proposed amendments to the FY27 general fund. Among the substantive changes was a proposal "to add a line item, yard debris removal, and allocate $39,368.00 in expenses" and to rebalance the budget, along with changes to the schedule of fees to adopt a new inspector company's fee schedule and to add a $100 flood-zone permit fee.
A commissioner moved to accept the general-fund amendments and the motion carried on a voice vote. Commissioners described the yard-debris line as a way to avoid an in-year budget amendment and to restore funding for lawn-waste pickup while the town determines a longer-term approach to waste collection. "So we're gonna put some money back in the budget for that at this point in time," one commissioner said.
