UFA reports 1,061 incidents in Q3; Midvale to welcome about 20 new firefighters

Chief Nathan Kay delivered the Unified Fire Authority’s quarter-three report to the council on Oct. 21. He said UFA responded to 1,061 incidents during the quarter, about 455 (43%) of which were emergent. The top incident types included four structure fires and four vegetation fires; top EMS call types listed as 80 'Sick People' and 64 'short falls.' Chief Kay also said the recruit camp nearing graduation will add roughly 20 new firefighters to the region.
Chief Kay closed with a winter-safety message: "As we transition into winter, be cautious with heating devices and make sure that flammable materials are at least three feet away from portable heaters and make sure your carbon monoxide detectors are working," and reminded residents of an upcoming public CPR class at Station 126.
