Midvale City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2025-R-64 on Oct. 21, authorizing a 50-year lease agreement with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers to place a monument holding a historical marker for the Drown Cabin in Pioneer Park at 7650 S. Lind Lane. Under the agreement the Daughters will retain sole ownership of the monument and be responsible for fabrication, construction, installation and ongoing maintenance; the city retains ownership of the park.
Katie Thorne, Community Development Executive Assistant, summarized the key terms: "The Daughters of Utah Pioneers will retain sole ownership of the monument. Daughters of Utah Pioneers will be responsible for maintaining the monument in good and safe condition, free from graffiti and damage." Council moved to suspend the rules to expedite approval and voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
