Board hears IASB and ED-RED updates; two FOIA requests reported

Emily Lonigro summarized the IA SB North Cook Division meeting where legislators discussed teacher and staff shortages; she said Senator Laura Fine is exploring tuition reimbursement and paid internship pathways while Representative Michelle Mussman is advocating for funding and mentoring programs. Mr. Sterbenc reported on ED-RED activities and an upcoming kick-off luncheon Oct. 18 and previewed an education-focused November session. The Board also received the IASB Committee Resolution Report and was asked to record positions on resolutions by the November meeting to guide the delegate assembly representation.
President Joseph Ruffner reported two FOIA matters: a Sept. 19 request from Rita Bauer for the district's 2024 YTD FOIA log (response sent Sept. 26) and an Oct. 4 commercial request from Sheri Reid (Data Acquisition Specialist) for purchase order and vendor information (response pending).
