Superintendent Scott Grens presented the Board with a draft school calendar for the 2025–26 academic year that meets state attendance requirements and recognizes multiple religious observances.
Grens said the draft includes the required 176 student attendance days and allows two days to be used for parent-teacher conferences. It also reserves five emergency days at the end of the year for makeup time. The presentation listed historical practices for recognizing religious holidays: Rosh Hashanah (first full day observed Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025), Yom Kippur (Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025), and Eid al-Fitr (Friday, March 20, 2026), and anticipated recognizing Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The draft also aligns Spring Break with Niles Township High School District 219 (March 30–April 3, 2026).
The Board received the draft for review; no final adoption occurred. Board members were asked to consider calendar questions ahead of future action.
