Stockbridge Valley Board approves December warrants, adopts policies and moves on personnel

The Stockbridge Valley Central School District Board of Education met on Feb. 11, 2025. Board President Jonathan Strain called the regular meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.; six board members were present and the meeting included administrators, students and community members.

The board adopted the minutes of the Jan. 14, 2025 regular meeting on a motion by Doug Reed, seconded by Carol Marshall. The board then approved the Treasurer's Report for December 2024 and the warrants for Dec. 1–31, 2024, which listed totals of General Fund $629,677.19; Lunch Fund $23,299.18; Special Aid $4,974.08; Capital Fund $185,250.86.

During the business portion the board approved Committee on Special Education recommendations for several student ID cases and adopted a package of board policies, including a Superintendent job description (3010), Board Policy Development (2101) and several fiscal and accounting policies (4001, 4100-series, 4200). The meeting record shows motions generally carried by recorded tallies of "6 ayes, 0 nays."

The board approved two FFA field trips — Camp Oswegatchie for Duck Days and attendance at the 2025 New York State FFA Convention — and accepted personnel actions including the resignation of Students with Disabilities teacher Stephanie Tubbs (effective June 30, 2025) and the retirement resignation of full-time bus driver Jane Kroneck (effective June 30, 2025). The board appointed Laurie Sanborn as a substitute cafeteria helper/bus monitor and Devin Bartlett as a substitute teacher for the 2024–25 school year.

On a motion by Herb Bingel, seconded by Mike Gough, the board entered executive session at 7:33 p.m. "to discuss specific personnel." Board President Jonathan Strain directed the board out of executive session at 8:51 p.m., and the meeting adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
