Public health officer reports Ebola monitoring, two pertussis cases and summer outreach events

Jaelyn Scanlan, Public Health Officer, reported communicable disease monitoring and outreach plans to the board. She said travelers from Ebola-affected regions are required to monitor their health for 21 days; minutes record 20 cases being monitored statewide with none in Oconto County. Scanlan also reported two pertussis cases at a daycare in Oconto County and noted an increase in human health hazard cases that Public Health is investigating.
Scanlan reviewed upcoming community outreach: Safety Town on July 28–29 in Abrams (registration deadline July 17), a Wellness Walk on July 21 at 5:00 p.m. at the Farmers Market in Oconto Falls, Bingocize at Serenity Gardens on Tuesdays through Sept. 8, a large car seat event on July 13 at Encompass in Oconto Falls (3:00–5:00 p.m.), and National Night Out on Aug. 4 with varying times and locations. She also said the Community Health Assessment work continues and that Public Health is participating in the Costing and Capacity Assessment for 2027, which yields $2,900 for participants.
