With 21st Century grant ended, Skokie D69 plans half-day summer program and proposes coordinator role

Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson told the Board that the 21st Century afterschool and summer grant concluded in August 2025, ending funding for a full-day summer program in 2026. The administration proposed a half-day, academically focused four-week program with transportation provided and said CFC funding will support students from both District 69 and neighboring District 67 while construction displaces some programs.
To support planning and coordination, administration recommended creating a Summer Exploration Planning Coordinator position because prior staff reductions removed a dedicated planner. The plan combines students from both districts to maintain program viability and to ensure transportation and staffing are managed across sites.
